False chin strap with a gilded and chiseled brass chin chain fastened by two rosettes stamped with a flaming grenade. Black varnished leather visor encircled by a gilded brass strip folded over the outer edge, green waxed interior.
Black leather interior cap, ocher leather-lined crown with the hat maker's seal "BARRAU À PARIS."
High-quality plume, called "Casoar," with drooping cock feathers, two-thirds white, one-third scarlet in its lower part.
