INFANTRY FLINTGUN RIFLE OF THE 1st REGIMENT OF THE CONSULS GUARD, THEN IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1777 corrected Year IX, First Empire. 29091

Cannon, model year IX, eight-sided then round, length: 1.135 m (instead of the regulatory 1.137 m) and with the breech tail 1.19 m. It is hallmarked “GG” by the reviser Georges Godmas and “J” (more legible) in an oval by Inspector Jacquesson, these two hallmarks allow us to date the manufacture to the year 1811. Tail of breech with remains of marking of the vintage “M 1777”.
Flintlock signed “Mre Imple de Versailles” in capital letters (1807-1814), model 1777 corrected year IX, marked “N” by the reviser André Nicaise (1808-1812), “DX” in a rectangle with cut corners of the controller Jean Baptiste Deschaseaux (1806-1818).
All brass fittings, stamped with the cursive “D” of Deschaseaux. Butt plate specific to the Imperial Guard with back cut in the shape of a flaming grenade, they are held by steel springs, it bears the marking “Gr. I. / No. 51.” for 1st Grenadier Regiment and probably the service number or assignment number.
Walnut frame. Plays suppressed lacrosse in accordance with the regulations. Iron wand.
In its regulatory length: 1.52 m.

8,926 infantry rifles for the Imperial Guard were manufactured during the First Empire, 714 examples were made in 1811.
