FIRE CAP, or STEEL FIRE HELMET, Third Republic. 24508
Tinned iron fire cap covered with black varnish, consisting of a half-spherical bomb. Base of the scarlet lacquered bomb to a height of 1.5 cm. Riveted visor and neck cover. Chinstraps composed of two round rosettes in smooth brass, surrounded by a molding representing a ribbon wrapping around itself. Front badge stamped in brass with two crossed axes linked together by a ribbon, H 6.3 cm.

Fairly good condition, oxidation from use, missing the interior cover.
NOTE :
These helmets appeared under the July Monarchy, they were still presented in suppliers' catalogs in the 1900s.
