FIRE CAP, or STEEL FIRE HELMET, Third Republic. 24507
Tin-plated iron fire cap covered with black varnish, consisting of a half-spherical cap and a straight headband. Riveted visor and neck cover. Brass front plate cut from a flaming bomb placed on two crossed axes, H 7 cm. Chinstraps composed of two round brass rosettes stamped with gadroons and two leather chin straps covered with a one-piece stamped brass plate with a series of scalloped scales.

Fairly good condition, varnish with oxidation from use, missing the interior cover.
NOTE :
These helmets appeared under the July Monarchy, they were still presented in suppliers' catalogs in the 1900s.
