FIRE CAP, or STEEL FIRE HELMET, Second Empire. 22049
In tinned iron, covered with black varnish, consisting of a half-spherical cap and a straight headband. Riveted visor and neck cover. Headband complemented by a black patent leather headband with frontal badge consisting of two crossed axes in stamped brass.

Fairly good condition, chinstraps and inner cap missing.
NOTE :
These helmets appeared under the July Monarchy, they were still presented in suppliers' catalogs in the 1900s.
