Flag project. HANDWRITTEN DOCUMENT DESCRIBING THE PROJECT FLAG OF THE FONTAINEBLEAU NATIONAL GUARD, Restoration. 18875-10

Handwritten document describing in detail the flag project of the National Guard of Fontainebleau.

“The flag in white taffeta, suitable, and of an ordinary size, without being larger than good taste requires.
In the middle of this flag, the crest of the arms of France would be embroidered, surmounted by the royal crown surrounded by oak and olive branches, as it is represented on the new five franc coins.
At the top there is a banner with these words: Garde Nationale de Fontainebleau.
All embroidery will be shown on each side.
The body of the escutcheon would be embroidered in azure blue silk, the three fleur-de-lis in bumps in silver thread, the surround of the escutcheon would be composed of a rod embroidered in silver thread.
The crown also embroidered in silver thread.
The background of the banner would be embroidered in azure silk, the letters and the surrounding cord in silver thread.
The oak and olive palms will be embroidered in nuanced green silk; the fruits will be made of silver wire.
At the corners, a grenade which is repeated at the opposite angle, a hunting corps which is also repeated at its opposite angle, all embroidered in silver thread.
The flag should be bordered with a twist embroidered in azure silk and silver thread.
Observe that all embroidery is as light as possible in order to avoid its heaviness which would take away grace in its deployment.
It will not be necessary to make a tie, Mde La Duchesse d'Angoulême having kindly promised to provide one.
The flag staff must be painted blue and surmounted by a gilded copper lance, in the middle of which there is a fleur-de-lys. We will send the design in small form.”
