« Je suis vivant et bien portant et sans manger de petits pâtés. Erfurt offrait encore quelques ressources de ce genre, mais voilà deux mois que je fais carême et abstinence. J'espère que si le pape a connaissance d'un jeûne aussi long qu'il m'accordera un petit bout d'indulgence. (...) Le Colonel Camas* est directeur de l'Equipage de siège en ESPAGNE, nous y avons 9 compagnies, nous en avons encore 7 en ALLEMAGNE et aucun ne sont ici, il y a bien longtemps que je n'ai vu des Officiers du régiment. Je suis toujours dans mes paperasses dont je voudrais bien me débarrasser (...).
Comme tu me l'a dit, le quartier maître ne m'en a pas prévenu que ton père lui a payé 400 (...).
Nous avons ici de temps en temps des bals qui nous amusent peu, nous n'avons aucun autres moyens de nous distraire (...).

*Jean Edmond Filhol de Camas, né le 2 juillet 1767 à Port-Louis (Morbihan), mort le 29 mars 1854 à Rulliac Saint-Avé (Morbihan) à l'âge de 86 ans, est un général français du Premier Empire et Baron de l'Empire. Il était Chef de Brigade en Espagne en 1808.
