Imperial German Headgear 1888-1914, Field Guide, James TURINETTI. 978-097887160-4
This Field Guide is to serve as a companion to the collector to take to military shows or shops and used as an aid in verifying various items for sale. We feel that this Guide will be useful for the identification and acquisition of "righteous" items of German Militaria; i.e. Imperial Headgear, Beer Steins, Uniforms, Pipes, and other memorabilia from 1888 to 1914. The Guide is arranged by Branch and then by numerical position within the area of service. Within the major unit (regiment) the reader will find a wealth of information including: The units name and title, date of founding, Kockarde, uniform, headgear plate (Wappen), duty and parade elements, and Garrison locations of the major and subordinate units. Included for each unit is a detailed description of the headgear and its parts. A Dichotomous Key has been developed to classify and identify the some 70 plates and banners. Maps are offered to give a sense of location within the Imperial German Second Reich. The Uniform Icons are from "RUHL 1914 Edition" with some modification, along with many photographs and illustrations from period sources. The maps and drawings are original work.
