En drap bleu foncé (quelques trous de mites restaurés et rebouchés)
, passepoils en cordonnet rouge écarlate.
Coiffe intérieure en basane entière, comme de règle pour la troupe montée.
Sur les côtés ventouses d'aération peintes en noir.
Jugulaire à double coulisse en cuir noirci, maintenue par deux boutons en cuivre tombac timbrés de l'empreinte de l'artillerie, deux canons croisés surmontés d'une grenade.
Visière en cuir épais, matriculée.

Sur le devant de coiffe grenade enflammée surmontant deux canons croisés en métal estampé doré, cocarde en métal blanc strié aux couleurs tricolores, pompon sphérique de 35mm de diamètre rouge écarlate.
Cet usage, fréquent lors du port de la grande tenue, fut modifié en novembre 1910 avec la suppression du pompon héritier du shako remplacé par un plumet.
Au fond du calot en basane noire, pastille manquante, sur la toile forte de renfort, matricule du soldat.

Bon état de conservation.
