Pour la première fois dans l’histoire, les délégués de 29 nations d’Asie et d’Afrique se sont réunis à Bandoeng (Java) en avril 1955 pour discuter du colonialisme et du racisme. L’écrivain américain Wright s’est rendu à cette conférence à titre personnel. Indépendance politique liée à l’indépendance économique dont le moyen immédiat est l’industrialisation. Si les occidentaux n’apportent pas sans arrière-pensée de domination, capitaux, machines et techniques en échange de matières premières, ceux-ci demanderont l’aide indispensable à leur modernisation aux Chinois et aux Russes. L’Europe sera ainsi privée de matières premières et de débouchés.
