DRAGOON TROOP HELMET, MODIFIED 1825 MODEL 1830, JULY MONARCHY
Helmet entirely made of brass.
Headband stamped with a flaming bomb framed by laurel and oak branches.
Visor and neck cover each edged with a piece of brass folded over the outer edge, lined with green leather under the visor and black under the neck cover (partly missing).
The lower part of the bomb at the back is marked "309" and dated "1827".
Brass stamped crest composed of a mask topped with a palmette and a relief head of Medusa; two flaps stamped with a decreasing series of 13 fluting ribs framed by pearls and drops. Each flap is attached to the bomb with 2 screws.
Aigrette holder (known as "crest ornament" from 1844 onwards) in brass composed of a lens decorated with palmettes, a socket with laurel branches and palmettes, and a tuft of black horsehair. REAR LENS.
Plume holder in brass.
Interlaced brass jugulars in the shape of a figure eight mounted on a leather chinstrap; brass rosette imprinted with a radiant sun, attached to the bomb with a screw.
Black horsehair mane, shaped like a brush ending in a flowing tail of approximately 70 cm. Non-original rear screw.
Inner leather lining cut in wolf teeth.
Very good condition.
