Steel cuirass composed of a back plate and a breastplate. Breastplate numbered on the outer edge but hammered under the Third Republic, bordered by 21 brass nails and with interior marking "Manufre Imple de Klingenthal Coulaux et Cie 1854 2.T. 1re.L.No 418"; the hooks for the aiguillette and the support for the cartridge box strap were removed in 1873.
Back plate numbered on the outer edge in the same way as the breastplate (hammered), bordered by 39 brass nails, adorned at the top with two leather straps covered with a chainmail made of intertwined 8-shaped brass links with a steel lock finished with leather tassels, and at the bottom with a black varnished leather belt model 1862. Interior marking strictly identical to that of the breastplate "Manufre Imple de Klingenthal Coulaux et Cie 1854 2.T. 1re.L.No 418".
