HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Brescia, then under the sovereignty of the Republic of Venice, was renowned worldwide for the exceptional quality of its steel, the refined work on its barrels (especially in the Trompia Valley in Gardone), and the skill of its lock makers. The signature Frachetti e Minelli brings together two renowned artisan families: The Frachetti family: a dynasty of master gunsmiths and lock makers from Brescia specialized in chiseling work and precision mechanics; The Minelli family: known for their expertise in gunsmithing and woodwork (archibugieri) renowned for the finesse of their walnut burl gun stocks and their inlays of steel or brass wire. The association of Frachetti and Minelli is primarily documented between the late 17th century and the first half of the 18th century (circa 1680–1740).
