RAPIER TYPE SWORD, AUSTRIA or ITALY, circa 1570.
Strong with bronzed iron hilt. Multibranch guard forged with crenellated reliefs, double curved quillon with buttons, escutcheon, quadruple side branch of guard, pas-d'âne and quadruple branch of counter-guard without decoration. Strong crenellated pommel and filigree handle of twisted copper wire with iron ferrules and ferrules. Double-edged blade of 103 cm and 7 cm ricasso. The central fuller of 25 cm is stamped on each side in capital letters with "VIANNA" identifying the geographical origin of the weapon. Wooden scabbard leather-covered with iron hook and chape. Weight of the sword with scabbard: 1kg44; without scabbard: 1kg27.
