Gilded brass plate stamped with the crowned imperial eagle perched on a globe cut out with the number "29", H 14.3 cm, width with the curvature 11.5 cm. Complete with its threaded rear stem and locking nut.

HISTORY:
By decree of May 2, 1859, the 3rd infantry regiment provided 1 company to form the 101st line infantry regiment.
In 1859, it campaigned in Italy and then from 1861 to 1865, it was part of the occupation force in Rome.
In 1867, it returned to Italy and participated in the Battle of Mentana.
During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, the regiment fought at Borny, Saint-Privat, the siege of Metz, Noisseville, and Servigny, and was taken prisoner of war.
On August 16, 1870, the IV battalion, formed from the 7th companies of the first three battalions, reinforced by the 8th company of the I and two depot companies made up of newcomers, left the depot to form the 8th provisional regiment which would constitute the 2nd brigade of the 1st division of the 13th Army Corps. The 8th companies of the II and III battalions were transferred in September to the 29th provisional regiment. From October 2, 1870, to February 1, 1871, the depot of the 29th line infantry regiment, remaining in the besieged Paris, provided detachments to the 35th line, 42nd line, 8th provisional, 67th line, 86th line, 134th line, 1st division of the 14th Army Corps, 110th line, 119th line, 120th line, 123rd line, 136th line, 109th line, 111th line, and 112th line.
