GERMAN CAVALRY TRUMPET, first half of the 19th century. 6449

Entirely made of brass, composed of a cylindrical-conical brass tube with five branches and four curves, folded onto itself. Removable mouthpiece. Mouthpiece branch engraved with lines. The main tube with a protruding brass ring decorated with lines, ending in a flared bell. Four suspension rings welded to the curves to attach cords or carrying straps. Length 38.5 cm, bell diameter 12.7 cm. Bell marked "5 Ch R2 90".

Good condition, bell with dents and wear.

NOTE:
This model of cavalry trumpet has been used in Germany from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. There are very similar examples from the following makers:
- Michael SAURLE in Munich (instrument maker from 1799 to 1845), his trumpets generally have a fairly round ring on the tube.
- Anton SCHERLEIN in Augsburg (instrument maker from 1856 to 1868) produces instruments similar to the presented example with a ring decorated with lines.
