INFANTRY SAPPER AXE, July Monarchy. 32327
Regulation axe described in Félix HECQUET's work from 1828, in service from the July Monarchy until the end of the Second Empire.
Black waxed wooden handle, total length 83 cm, with visible length of 63.5 cm. Handle composed of a 11.8 cm high brass sheath, marked "17", dated 1831, finished with a brass button with a diameter of 2 cm.
Steel blade, height at handle 7.5 cm. Cutting edge height 13.8 cm, head height 6 cm, shoulder height 29 cm, shoulder thickness 5 cm.
Blade secured to the handle through a brass eye with two large flat-headed steel screws.

Very good condition, usual oxidation on the blade.
