CAPTAIN'S KEPI OF MARINE INFANTRY, Second Empire. 32340
Entirely in almost black dark blue wool, band embroidered in threads and golden cannetille with a fouled anchor of the navy, braids and soutache in golden cords, top adorned with a Hungarian knot composed of a silver-gilt braid. Jugulars in silver-gilt braids held by two gilt half-spherical buttons stamped with a crowned anchor of the navy. Square-shaped visor in black waxed leather lined with green goatskin, edged with a black varnished leather welt sewn over the outer edge. Inner lining composed of a band in gilded brown waxed morocco on its upper part and a crimson silk lining, crown lined with black waxed canvas gilt with "PRÉVEL / 8. R. de Richelieu. 8 / PARIS" at the front.

Fair condition, oxidized embroideries and braids with faded gilding, lower part of band detached at the front without damage, inner lining worn with some tears and soiling.
