Gilt brass hilt. Guard with two branches forming a decorated shell with marine anchors. Quillon in the shape of a dolphin's head. Pommel with a long tail, black horn grip. Vertically grooved ferrule. Scarlet cloth knot. Slightly curved blade with hollow facets and fullers, length 70 cm. Black patent leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings richly embossed on both sides with flowers, acanthus leaves, beaded rods, and marine anchors. Drag with belt loop button in the shape of a scallop shell. Tip of the scabbard with a brass chape decorated with a flower and cut into the shape of a lyre.
France. Third Republic. Good condition, gilt worn on the highlights, blade with oxidation from use.

Jacques DRUET, born in Brest on January 21, 1898, died on March 26, 1954 in Paris (5th district).
Joined the navy in 1916, became a navy ensign on June 27, 1919, and a lieutenant commander in 1923.
He served as the second-in-command on the submarine JEAN CORRE in 1928, later commanding the submarine ARAGO. Promoted to Corvette Captain in 1936, and then Frigate Captain in 1941.
Recipient of the Croix de Guerre 1914-1918 and the Military Medal.
