OFFICER'S SWORD OF THE TURKISH NAVY, Early 20th century.
Gilt bronze hilt. Guard with a wide branch forming a shell decorated with flutes on a sand background with a central oval medallion molded with a fouled anchor surmounted by the Ottoman crescent. Folding counter-guard. Pommel with a long lion head tail. Ferrule decorated with a laurel branch. Grip made of wood covered with white celluloid and filigree brass. Straight blade with hollow facets and grooves, 79 cm long, acid etched on its first third, on one side in a matte background cartouche with a vegetal design with a warship with sails and a fouled anchor, and on the other side in a matte background cartouche with two Ottoman military trophies framing a crescent topped with a star. Black varnished leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings with scalloped edges, decorated with lines. Chape and central fitting with gilt brass stud and carrying ring. Tip of the scabbard terminating in a lyre-shaped chape.
Comes with the sword knot which is missing the tassel.

Good condition, the celluloid on the grip is damaged with losses, blade in very good condition, leather of the scabbard in poor condition with several folds and damages.
