STAFF COMMAND MONTE CAVALRY FLAME OF THE ARMY OF VERSAILLES, Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. 32390R
Originally a rectangular tricolor pennant transformed into a two-pointed flame at the fall of the Second Empire to be reused in the Army of Versailles. Made of tricolor cloth, with blue at the top and red towards the bottom. On the edge, a leather sheath designed to button to the lance staff. It is dated "1-56" (1st quarter of 1856), registered as "1594" then re-registered as "2575".
On the central white cloth, a handwritten inscription in black ink reads "Guerre de 1870-1871. Guidon de l'Armée de Versailles. Ramassé au Bois de Boulogne par Gauthuille-Lathuille. 24 mai 1871".
Height approximately 40 cm, length to the end of the flames approximately 77 cm including the leather sheath, length at the center 40 cm, width of the leather sheath approximately 2 cm.
