OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE DRAGOONS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, First Empire - Hundred Days period. 32769
Brass hilt. Guard with five branches and a counter-branch forming a shell at the front of the model known as "battle guard", this guard has two central perforations originally intended to hold a silver grenade. Cap with a short octagonal tail decorated with lines. Handle in wood covered in black waxed calf leather (now turned brown), copper wire filigree. Scarlet cloth knot. Curved blade with hollow facets, 96.9 cm long, engraved on the back "Mfture Imple du Klingenthal Coulaux Frères", marked with a starry "M" of inspector C. Marion, December 1808 to June 1811, and a "B" from first class controller J.G. Bick, starting from February 1809. Scabbard entirely in brass with a central groove on each side lined with black waxed leather, two brass bands edged with prominent moldings, with brass rivets and steel suspension rings. Steel blade in the shape of a lyre.

Very good condition, grenade of the hilt probably removed during the First Restoration and not replaced during the Hundred Days.
NOTE: This sabre with an officer type battle guard hilt, a white blade, and an enlisted man's scabbard can be attributed to a non-commissioned officer.
