COMMANDER'S CROSS OF THE ORDER OF OUSSAM ALAOUI CHERIFIEN second type, Third Republic. 33182-1
Order created on January 11, 1913, in use from 1926 onwards.
Gilt star with five rayed points, enameled in white and bordered by a scarlet enamel stripe. The obverse center bears the inscription in Arabic "His Majesty Youssoufian" and on the reverse, the cherifian parasol, a symbol of power.
Suspension loop made of two palm branches tied together with a ribbon; it is surmounted by a ring for the passage of a neck ribbon.
Neck ribbon in orange moiré silk, used prior to 1934.
Maker's mark: Boar's head hallmark of the Maison Arthus Bertrand.
Decoration Ø 5.7 cm.
Total height (without the suspension ring) 9.8 cm.
Width of the ribbon 3.7 cm.
Presented in its manufacturer's case made of cardboard covered with burgundy paper, lined with velvet and ivory silk, hot-stamped with "Arthus Bertrand & Cie / 46 rue de Rennes / Paris."

NOTE:
Established as a Moroccan honorary order shortly after the establishment of the French protectorate and during the reign of Moulay Youssef. Like the Order of the Moroccan Throne, the Order of the Ouissam Alaouite is considered the equivalent of the National Order of the Legion of Honor in France.
