OFFICER BELT PLATE OF THE DEPARTMENTAL GENDARMERIE, model 1854, Second Empire. 33824
Made of gilded bronze, rectangular with cut corners, height 7.6 cm, width 9.1 cm including its curve. It is decorated in the center with an uncrowned imperial eagle holding in its talons the lightning bolt of Jupiter, topped by the inscription "DEPARTMENTAL GENDARMERIE". In the lower part, a ribbon bears the inscription "PUBLIC SAFETY". On the reverse side, it is complete with its buckle and hook as well as its two prongs, lined with black waxed leather.
