Barrel made of leather covered with black cloth, H 21 cm at the front and 22 cm at the back, adorned with a scarlet galloon woven in "cul de dé" pattern (width 3.7 cm) at the top, and at the bottom a leather chinstrap (width 2.3 cm). Crown, Ø 24.5 cm, and a black waxed leather visor in a round shape of 6.5 cm width, encircled with a steel binding folded over the outer edge, interior also waxed black. Cockade (Ø 6.9 cm) made of embossed leather depicting a radiant sun lacquered in white, model 1818. Brass plate, model 1823, featuring a coat of arms stamped with three fleurs-de-lis topped with the royal crown, surrounded by laurel branches; at the bottom a shield-shaped base cut in the center with a naval anchor, H of the plate 14 cm, width 11 cm. It attaches to the barrel using two brass wires and two double brass tabs spreading inside the barrel. Brass chinstrap composed of a rosette stamped with a fleur de lys and leather chin scales covered with 16 scales alternately cut in two or three scallops, except for the last scale cut in one scallop. Interior lining consisting of a leather headband topped with a cream canvas.

Fair condition, scarlet galloon with wear but mounted originally, tricolored cockade originally repainted in white, barrel cloth sun-faded to brown with moth holes and significant losses, original front plate but reassembled with later attachment tabs.
