1 - In Vila, on the 30th of Brumaire of the 3rd year (November 20, 1794).
Handwritten letterhead "5th Battalion of the National Volunteers of Gard."
"We, the undersigned, Commandant, Quartermaster, Medical Officer, Adjutant Major, Captain, Lieutenants, and Sub-Lieutenants of the aforementioned Battalion, commit to leave in the hands of our Quartermaster one and a half day's pay per month from our allowances for the maintenance of a Music group for the Battalion.
Signed FERRIOL plus around twenty more signatures.

2 - Port de Bonbonne, on the 2nd of Nivôse of the 3rd year (December 22, 1794).
"I, the undersigned adjutant major of the 5th Battalion of Gard, acting for said Battalion, commit to providing one hundred livres per month to Citizen Jean NOLÉ as a gratuity in addition to the nineteen sols given to him by the Nation and the bread and meat if he commits on his side to becoming the music master in said Battalion [...].
