Beautiful red wax seal "SIXTY-EIGHTH HALF-BRIGADE / FRENCH REPUBLIC / FREEDOM EQUALITY".
"We officers, non-commissioned officers, and grenadiers of the 2nd battalion of Loire and Cher currently part of the 68th 1/2 brigade, certify and attest that Citizen JEAN GERBOT grenadier of the said battalion, born in Couture district of Vendôme, department of Loire and Cher, aged twenty-three, height of five feet three inches, received a gunshot wound to the top of the head at Vaire on September 9, 1793.... that he served from August 29, 1792 until the 2nd floréal fourth year of the Republic, further certify that during this time he served with honor and probity [...]
