BIOGRAPHY:
John III Sobieski, born on August 17, 1629, at Olesko Castle, near Lviv (then in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), and died on June 17, 1696, in Warsaw, was the King of Poland from 1674 to 1696 and Grand Duke of Lithuania. He is a Polish national hero, notably due to his victory over the Turks at Vienna in 1683.
