DUTCH NAVY OFFICER'S SWORD, Early 20th century. 32651
Gilded brass hilt. Guard with two branches forming a wide openwork shell with a medallion in a floral scrollwork design with a fouled anchor surmounted by the royal crown, openwork counterguard with foliage scrolls. Pommel with a long lion head-shaped quillon. Filigreed brass horn grip. Ferrule decorated with lines. Slightly curved blade, flat, back with a fuller, etched on half its length and on each side with a military sailing ship, a fouled anchor in a floral design, signed "YZERHOUWER". Length 76 cm. Scarlet wool sword knot.
Black patent leather scabbard with three gilded brass fittings decorated with lines, with rings and hanging rings on the chape and central fitting. Tip of the scabbard with a lyre-cut drag.
Silver bullion sword knot with tufted fringe.

Very good condition, grip with cracks.
