NAVAL OFFICER'S SABRE OF THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE, Second half of the 19th century. 32665
Gilt bronze hilt. Guard with three branches forming a pierced shell with a marine anchor surrounded by foliage. Pommel with a long tail decorated with palm leaves. Handle made of bone, filigree in brass. Ferrule decorated with foliage. Slightly curved blade with grooves, length 77 cm, acid-etched on each side with a vegetal design, signed "J. NIKITITS ERBEN" on one side, and on the other side an oval with "F.H HÖRSTER A SOLINGEN".
Wooden scabbard covered with black varnished leather with three large brass fittings decorated with flowers and geometric patterns in an Orientalist style. Chape with a ball and ring, overdecorated with a marine anchor applied; at the back of the chape, a suspension ring for belt carrying. Central fitting with a ball and ring. Tip of the scabbard finished with a blade cut in the shape of a lyre.

Good condition, small cracks on the grip, gilt missing, repair by soldering at the top of the guard branch, leather of the scabbard swollen.
