Walnut stock, steel fittings. External hammer, percussion through a rod along the stock, detachable rifled barrel, 41 cm long, stamped with the weapon's number "107 C" and in an oval "Minié Bté - SGDG". Stamped near the sight "C.C" and "107", for Charles Cordier and the weapon's number. Sight graduated from 400 to 1100m.

Invented by Commander Minié and manufactured by the gunsmith Charles Cordier.
The weapon is nearly obsolete for its time; the German Dreyse is already in use, the Chassepot is in development, and the Spencer and Henry rifles in the United States are in production.
