Brass hilt. Guard with six branches forming at the front an openwork palmette-shaped shell, known as the "battle guard." Octagonal pommel with a short tail decorated with lines. Wooden handle wrapped in black waxed calfskin, with copper wire filigree. Scarlet cloth tie. Curved blade with hollow edges, length 94 cm, engraved on its first third with military trophies and floral decorations, and three fleurs-de-lis masked by flowers. Black varnished leather scabbard with three brass fittings decorated with lines and scalloped edges, brass tip.

Very good condition, blade shows usual oxidation, the blade is from the late reign of Louis XVI as evidenced by the fleurs-de-lis masked by flowers, slight fragility in the center of the scabbard without tearing.
