ARTILLERY INFANTRY SABER OF THE NATIONAL GUARD, Type 1816, Second Empire. Inventory number 29589R
Roman-style hilt, measuring 14 cm, in one-piece brass with a symmetrical guard and a handle adorned with 18 rows of scales. Strong pommel intricately molded with the uncrowned imperial eagle in relief. Symmetrical double-edged blade hollowed out with three grooves on each side, stamped with the Klingenthal manufacturer's mark "B" surrounded by a chain of J.G. Bick, first-class controller from May 1815 to August 1824, and "L" for F.L. Lobstein, second-class controller from July 1821 to March 1829, measuring 48.5 cm. Black varnished leather scabbard, brass chape with a loop, engraved with the number "275," and a brass tip at the end of the scabbard.
