Roman-style hilt, H 14.5 cm, in one piece brass, with symmetrical crosspiece decorated with a flower and gadroons, and handle adorned with 18 rows of scales. Sturdy pommel molded in relief with a Gallic rooster. Symmetrical double-edged blade with a central ridge, length 48.3 cm. Black varnished leather scabbard embossed with "GIRARD LOUIS / IN CHÂTELLERAULT", brass chape with knuckle bow, scabbard tip with a brass shoe.

Very good condition, hilt in very good condition, blade darkened and in need of cleaning, scabbard has rubbing off of varnish on the outer edges.
