Polished steel hilt. Smooth branch guard. Bivalve quillon decorated with an attached and riveted brass grenade. Fixed counter-guard, marked "2969". Round pommel, ferrules decorated with lines. Polished white metal grip. Triangular polished steel blade, length 80.8 cm, signed at the base "Armoury Master / de Châtt / February 1888 Officer's Swords / Model 1887". Polished steel scabbard with a single suspension ring, blade shaped like a lyre.
