GENDARMERIE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER SWORD, model 1853, Second Empire. Inventory number 29610.
Brass hilt. Single-branch guard. Relief-molded hilt featuring an imperial eagle perched on a bundle of flags. Folding counter-guard. Plain rounded pommel. Brass grip molded with oak and laurel branches curling upwards. Natural leather knot. Straight blade with grooves and hollow edges, 81 cm long. Black varnished leather scabbard with two brass fittings, tip of the scabbard finished with a brass drag, chape with a button for attachment to the belt shaped like a plain shield.
