Brass hilt. Guard with four branches forming a shell and decorated with laurel branches. Cap with a short tail. Ebony handle filigreed in copper. White felt knot. Straight nickel-plated blade with fullers, length 85.2 cm, signed on the back "Officer's saber for foot soldiers model 1923 2nd size Chatellerault National Arms Manufacturer June 1930". Nickelled steel scabbard with a carrying ring bracelet, lyre-shaped tip.
