REVOLVER model 1874 FOR OFFICER, Third Republic. 33602

Six-shot revolver, 11mm caliber, centerfire percussion. Made of steel with a charcoal blued finish of nearly 100%, except for the hammer, trigger, loading gate, and cylinder pin which are yellowed.
The conical front part of the barrel bears the front sight, the octagonal central part is engraved with "Mle 1874", and stamped on the lateral flats are the initials "M T", the serial number "N 26017", and the marking "1879". The front portion of the ramrod is detachable from the right intermediate flat. The cylinder has six chambers with grooves on the outer surfaces symmetrically placed around a cylindrical channel where the cylinder pin is engaged. The iron cap ring with pivot and pin is present. The frame is engraved, "Mre d'Armes St Étienne". Saint-Étienne arms manufacturer marks on the cylinder and frame.
Checkered walnut grips. All parts of the firearm are marked with the same serial number.

NOTE:
Revolver models from 1874 were blued with charcoal until 1880, then furnace blued from 1880 to 1894, and from 1894 onwards, wet bluing (chemical bluing) was introduced.
