Shell and top made of cardboard entirely covered with black oilcloth, height at the front 11.5 cm, height at the back 18 cm. Top diameter 12 cm. The base of the shell above the visor is adorned with a silver braid. Visor of square shape with rounded corners, made of black varnished leather, lined with waxed green morocco leather, width 4 cm, with a black varnished leather piping folded over and stitched on the outer edge; at the back, in the upper part, a small silver braid descends for about 5 cm, it is sewn to the top and fixed with a half silvered brass button stamped with the imperial eagle at the lower part. Half-spherical wooden pompom covered with a silver cord, lined with white silk, diameter 5 cm, thickness 2.5 cm. Inner lining composed of a gold-tooled black varnished leather headband, made of chamois silk, complete with its two sewn buttons for attaching the chinstrap. Top lined with scarlet paper gold-tooled with "MILITARY EQUIPMENT / Mel SPIQUEL & Fils / 164 Rue St Honoré / PARIS".
