GENERAL'S SABER, Revolution. 32214
Gilt brass hilt. Guard with a relief-molded single branch, with beaded edges, engraved with foliage. Cap with a long tail similarly decorated to the guard branch, with a helmet-shaped pommel in antique style. Triangular-shaped quillons, the front quillon is engraved with scrolls. Slightly curved blade with hollow facets in damascus, decorated on its first third in polished mirror and gilded with military trophies, flower bouquets, plumed helmets, fasces, ribbons, and scrolls. Blade length 79 cm, width at the heel 4 cm.
Wooden scabbard covered in black waxed shagreen with three wide gilt brass embossed fittings:
- Tip embossed on its front with a medallion depicting a republic on a background of military trophies within a laurel wreath tied by a ribbon at the top, this medallion on a sandblasted background, surrounded by leafy corollas. At the top, prominent molding bordering the throat. Bailer ring. Height of the tip 16.4 cm, width 6.5 cm.
- Central fitting reproducing on its front the same decoration as the tip, except for the medallion embossed with a fasces topped with a Phrygian cap on a background of a trophy of arms. Height 8.3 cm, width 6.5 cm.
- End of the scabbard likewise embossed on both sides, with a central medallion on each side depicting a fasces topped with a Phrygian cap on a background of a military trophy. Gilded brass tip in the shape of a lyre. Height of the scabbard end 21.5 cm, width 5.5 cm.
