Gilt bronze hilt. Three-branched guard forming a shell at the front molded with a representation of the Republic wearing a helmet, holding a lance in one hand and the Nemean lion in the other, placed on a bundle of fasces with an oak and laurel branch, the Republic's attire with its gilding in a darker original patina. Cap with a long tail and pommel shaped like an ancient plumed helmet. Handle in wood entirely filigreed with silver-plated copper. Oval-shaped guard entirely openworked with a radiant background. Scabbard adorned with lines and scalloped edges. Slightly curved blade with hollow facets, polished white, engraved and gilded on its front side on the first third with a floral design with a cartouche marked "VIVE LA LIBERTÉ," and on the other side with a warrior in Turkish attire holding a sword and shield bearing the inscription "LA NATION," this warrior is framed by a trophy of arms and a vegetal trophy. Blade length 69 cm.
Black varnished leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings decorated with lines and scalloped edges. Chape with suspension ring and button for belt wear. Scabbard tip with gilt brass scalloped finial.

Very good condition, gilding in perfect state, blade maintaining its original polish with some oxidation stains, scabbard leather slightly chipped.
