Brass hilt. Guard with three branches forming at the front an openwork shell with a secondary branch and a flaming bomb. Perforated handguard. Cap with long tail decorated with lines and a helmet-shaped pommel with a plume. Wooden handle entirely filigreed in brass and copper. Brass ferrule. Slightly curved blade with hollow sides, 72.7 cm long, engraved on the front with "Vivre / Libre / ou Mourir / Pour le / Salut / De la / Patrie" (To Live/ To Be Free/ or to Die / For the / Salvation / Of the / Country), this inscription is topped with three cannonballs and a trophy of weapons near the base of the blade. On the other side, a republic armed with a sword, wearing a red liberty cap, looking down at her feet at a royal crown, a scepter, and a severed head are engraved. Below this central motif, a halberd with a crowned head pierced at the top is engraved. Above the central motif, a Phrygian cap surmounted by a rooster on a radiating background is engraved. Natural buffalo leather knot.

Fair condition, complete but broken and loose filigree on the handle, blade shows usual oxidation, without scabbard.
