BICORNE HAT OF A SENIOR OFFICER FROM THE 7th DRAGOON REGIMENT, First Empire. 33529

Made of taupe felt, with a height at the front from its base of 21 cm, a height at the back from its base of 32 cm, width of 43.5 cm, and a depth of approximately 15.5 cm.
Each corner is adorned with a silver passementerie tassel with soft fringes. The cockade is of the 1813 model in tricolor passementerie - red on the outside, silver, then blue on the inside - with a diameter of 9 cm. The chinstrap is made of three strands of thick twisted silver threads wrapping around a large uniform button with a diameter of 2.5 cm, made of molded silver metal depicting the number "7". The front and back parts are attached to the hat using metal hooks.
The interior of the hat consists of a 8 cm high band of black patent leather and a black silk cap with a white label printed in black stating "PICAUD, / in Paris / PLACE DES TROIS MAILLES No. 5, NEAR THE PONT NEUF BRIDGE".

The 7th Dragoon Regiment (7e RD) is a French cavalry unit, created during the Revolution from the Dauphin Dragoon Regiment, a French cavalry regiment from the Ancien Régime, which is currently disbanded. Established: 1673 - Disbanded: 1940.
