INFANTRY SWORD KNOWN AS BRIQUET, model 1776, Former Monarchy. 32549
Bronze one-piece hilt stamped with the cock, mark of the war administration from 1793 onwards. Single-branch guard. Handle with 19 flutes. Curved flat blade, length 59.4 cm, back of the blade signed "Mture Rle D'alsace", stamped with a "K" under a crown from the Klingenthal Manufacture from 1783 onwards, and "B" under a crown from F. Bisch, first-class controller from July 1783 to 1791; on one side, it is engraved with a flaming bomb topped with two intertwined "L"s, and on the other side with a flaming bomb with the inscription "GRENADIER". Red wool knot. Black waxed leather scabbard with two brass fittings, chape cut with an opening for the leather strap, end of the scabbard with brass tip.

Good condition, later knot, oxidation present on the blade.
NOTE:
The model 1776 infantry swords were widely reused during the Revolution.
