Body made of cardboard covered in dark blue cloth (height at front 10 cm, height at back 12 cm). Gold braid soutache on the sides with black lacquered metal ventilator. Gold lizard-type braid (height 2 cm). Black varnished leather chin strap and calotte. Visor in a round shape (width 3 cm), black varnished and waxed green on the inside, with leather edging folded over the outer border. Metal cockade stamped with a radiant sun and tricolor lacquer (Ø 3.9 cm) affixed to the shako with a half-spherical gold button. Gold cannetille cord. Gilt brass frontal badge in the shape of a flaming bomb (height of bomb 5.3 cm, width 4.3 cm). Inner headband in black waxed leather gold-stamped on the upper part. Dark royal blue silk lining marked in gold "CHAPELLERIE CIVILE & MILITAIRE / A. MAGAUD / 51. Rue Vivienne. 51 / PARIS". Black varnished leather chin strap attached to the shako with two brass buttons.
Pom-pom consisting of four elements: scarlet wool thistle flame, Ø 4.5 cm; small scarlet wool and coiled collar, height 6 mm, Ø 7 mm; wooden sphere covered in jonquil cloth with wool cord at its junction, adorned with a cut-out gilt brass number "4", Ø 3 cm; iron rod screwed, height 5 cm.
