OFFICER'S SHAKO OF THE 18th LIGHT INFANTRY REGIMENT, model 1821, Restoration period. 33453
Made of black cardboard covered with taupe felt (H 21 cm), black velvet cockade (H 3 cm), galloon woven in gilt silver thread "bottom of dice" pattern (1.2 cm wide), varnished black leather top (Ø 23.5 cm). Visor made of black waxed leather on top and green underneath (width 6.5 cm). Model 1821 gilt copper plate embossed with a shield stamped with three fleurs-de-lis, topped with a royal crown and framed with laurel branches, shield resting on an altar with the number "18" cut out with a hunting horn placed on two relief-stamped lily branches. Plate height 14 cm, width 9.9 cm.
Gilt brass chinstraps in two parts each: rosettes (Ø 4.1 cm) stamped with a hunting horn on a sanded background with prominent framing molding; leather chinstrap covered with velvet and 13 gilt brass scales cut into scallops, except the last one which has a rounded end, length 21 cm. Sun-stamped silver metal cockade (Ø 6.5 cm).
Lenticular wooden pompon covered with scarlet cloth and bordered with scarlet cord with the number "6" in cut brass attached to each face at the center (Ø 6.3 cm).
Interior headband made of black waxed leather cut into scallops and pierced with holes for a lace.

Good condition, shako underwent modifications in 1830 with the plate pierced to conceal the fleurs-de-lis and change of officer's galloon.
