With a postal address on the back "To Monsieur / Monsieur / Hoüannes Notary in Saumur / Department of Maine Et Loire / Anger at Saumur".
Remains of a red wax seal.
"Done on board the ship Le Vétéran in the roads. In Brest on the 1st thermidor year twelve of the French Republic" (July 20, 1804).
Jean Brié, probably the chief nurse, asks the notary if he has received his request for money, [...] hundred livres to send to him as soon as possible [...].
"We are twenty ships in the roads, including those linked to a division that is only waiting for the moment to depart [...] we are only part of the second division, so I would like to have my money before leaving [...]"
