LUXURY OFFICER'S SWORD, First Empire. 32779
Gilt bronze hilt finely chiseled. Guard branch decorated with the head of the Nemean lion on either side and a rich floral decoration. Quillon decorated with a flower. Shield-shaped hilt decorated with the profile of the laureled Emperor facing left, presented in a medallion in the shape of a laurel crown, this medallion is placed on a trophy of arms topped with the imperial eagle. Shield terminates on each side with a lion's head. Pommel decorated with water leaves and flowers. Wooden handle with mother-of-pearl scales and gilt brass side bars decorated with oak branches. Ferrule decorated with foliage. Triangular blade acid-etched, length 83.2 cm. Black varnished leather scabbard with two gilt brass fittings.

Hilt in good condition, the scales are original but have been riveted with two brass nails, blade oxidized having lost its decoration. Scabbard in poor condition, leather in very bad state, fittings un-gilt.
