- General Chapuy was taken prisoner by the English at the battle of Troisville near Le Cateau in 1794.
He undertakes, "on the honor and word of an officer, not to be absent or move away from the place assigned to me for prisoner of war, much less to escape from the states, dominion of His Imperial, Royal, Apostolic Majesty [...] nor to bear arms against her [...]"

- Also included is another engagement on honor signed on April 14, 1793 by Adjutant General CHÉRIN, who "acknowledges having received from the hands of General Prince de Cobourg, commander in chief of the imperial armies, citizen Laisné, sub-lieutenant in the 10th light infantry battalion, taken prisoner on the 12th of this month in the port of Raismer, against whom prisoner he will be sent by General Dampierre, Commander in Chief of the Army of the North, another Austrian prisoner of similar rank in exchange.
At the headquarters of Quiévrain on April 14, 1793, the 2nd year of the French Republic."

* René Bernard Chapuis, known as Chapuy, born on June 18, 1746 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle), died on April 15, 1809 in Étain (Meuse), was a French general of the French Revolution.
He joined the service on October 4, 1765 as a soldier in the Legion of Saint-Domingue, and was promoted to sergeant in November 1766. On December 28, 1772, he embarked for the Windward Islands, and on February 4, 1773, he was integrated into the Guadeloupe regiment, being promoted to second lieutenant on May 1, 1775.
From 1778 to 1782, he participated in the American War of Independence. On July 1, 1783, he was appointed aide-de-camp to Governor of Senegal Louis de Repentigny.
He returned to France on February 1, 1786. He was promoted to captain on August 1, 1792, and joined the Army of the North, where he was appointed lieutenant colonel on September 15, 1792 in the 3rd battalion of free hunters in Thierry's division. He campaigned in Belgium and Holland, and on April 18, 1793, he was appointed Chief of Brigade Adjutant-General by General Dampierre.
On September 12, 1793, he was promoted to brigadier general in command of the city of Cambrai, replacing General Nicolas Declaye. On April 26, 1794, he suffered a defeat at the Battle of Beaumont-en-Cambresis, where he was wounded by two sword blows and captured early in the fighting.
He was exchanged on September 23, 1795, and returned in time to take part in the defense of the Convention against the Royalist Insurrection of 13 Vendémiaire Year IV. On October 25, 1795, he was placed on non-active duty.
He was recalled in January 1796 to serve in the army of the Ocean Coasts at Noirmoutier. He retired on January 27, 1801.
He died on April 15, 1809 in Étain (Meuse).
