SILVER-MOUNTED HUNTING DAGGER, Old Monarchy, second half of the 18th century. 32744
Silver hilt. Silver crossguard with double quillon, hallmarked Paris Fermier Général Prevost 1762-1767 with letter date B or D (more likely D) corresponding to the year 1767. Smooth ebony handle with three silver pins, plain silver framing rod, cover decorated with lines. Ferrule adorned with scallop shells. Blade engraved with arabesques and Turkish coat of arms, length 47 cm.
Wooden scabbard covered in black shagreen with two silver-mounted decorations featuring scallop shells and rocaille motifs. Chape with clip for wearing on a belt with a suspension ring, end of the scabbard decorated in the same style with a steel chape.
